“TINSELTOWN GRAFFITI FIRE”: I am a survivor of last year’s horrific Los Angeles wildfires. The “Sunset Fire” was breathing down my neck, but a fortuitous wind shift and a nearby reservoir allowed the heroic LA firefighters to put it out with helicopters in time before it came for my residence.
The title comes form another fire, this one literally on my doorstop. The homeless intentionally set fire to a dilapidated house kitty-corner to my place, and I watched in utter horror and sheer, unmitigated terror for seven hours in the middle of the night as 70 of LA’s best heroically somehow put it out (even though a tree was between the buildings). I watched the spray-painted graffiti on an out-building reflect in the fire for one minute, the length of the song.
